Visa, immigration, and customs information
Visa Requirements
Entry permissions vary by nationality. Find your category below.
Chico follows standard U.S. visa policy. Citizens of 41 Visa-Waiver countries may enter visa-free; others need an approved ESTA, B-1/B-2 visa, or corresponding U.S. visa category.
Nationals of countries in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program may enter for tourism or business without a visa.
Travel must be with an approved ESTA prior to boarding; no extensions possible beyond 90 days.
Visa-Waiver travelers must obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization online.
Cost: USD 21
Print or save approval; airlines will verify before boarding U.S.-bound flights.
Travelers from non-Visa Waiver countries (e.g., India, China, Philippines, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia) must hold a B-2 tourist or relevant U.S. visa.
A visa does not guarantee entry; final determination made at port of entry.
Arrival Process
Arriving passengers clear immigration, collect baggage, claim bags, proceed through customs, and exit landside. Chico-bound travelers normally land at Sacramento (SMF) or San Francisco (SFO) and drive or ride north afterward.
